Cookies Policy
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device. They are widely used to make sites work, to remember preferences, and to tell site owners how their pages are being used.
Some cookies are set by this site. Others are set by third parties whose services we use, such as Google. This page explains which is which, and how to turn them off.
Nothing beyond the essentials is set until you tell us it is alright. The first time you visit, a notice asks whether you are happy with analytics and advertising cookies; until you choose, none of them load. You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings at the foot of any page.
The cookies this site uses
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site, which pages they read and how they found us. This helps us decide what to improve. Google Analytics sets the following cookies:
- _ga — distinguishes one visitor from another. Expires after 2 years.
- _ga_S1EP4RSMKM — keeps the state of your visit for our Google Analytics property. Expires after 2 years.
- _gid — distinguishes visitors. Expires after 24 hours.
- _gat — limits how often data is sent to Google. Expires after 1 minute.
You can opt out of Google Analytics across every site you visit using Google's browser add-on.
Advertising
We use Google Ads remarketing so that people who have visited this site may see our advertisements on other websites. Google sets cookies on its own domains to recognise a browser across sites. We do not see who you are from this — only aggregate figures.
You can control the advertising Google shows you at My Ad Center.
Maps
Our contact page embeds a Google map so you can find our office. Google may set cookies when the map loads. If you would rather not load it, you can find us at 1 Kildare Street, Newry, BT34 1DQ.
Fonts and icons
We load typefaces from Google Fonts and icons from BootstrapCDN. These do not set cookies, but your browser does request the files from those servers, which means your IP address is visible to them.
Cookies we set ourselves
This site does not set its own tracking cookies. Submitting the contact form may create a short-lived session cookie, which is deleted when you close your browser.
Your cookie choice is remembered in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie. It never leaves your device and we cannot read it.
Controlling cookies
The simplest way is the Cookie settings button at the foot of any page. That brings the notice back so you can change your answer.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so will not stop this site working — none of the cookies above are needed for the pages to display.
Most browsers also offer a private or incognito mode, which clears cookies when you close the window. aboutcookies.org has general guidance on managing cookies.
Third-party cookies
The analytics and advertising cookies described above are set by Google, not by us. We cannot read them, and Google's use of the information they collect is governed by its own terms.
You can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Changes to this policy
If we add or remove a service that uses cookies, we will update this page. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
Getting in touch
If you have a question about how we use cookies, email [email protected] or telephone 028 3005 4500.
How we handle personal information more generally is set out in our Privacy Policy.
